Shockingly Low Sale

Legendary rapper 50 Cent purchased his sprawling Farmington, CT estate back in 2003 for $4.1 million, at the time, the most expensive home sale in Farmington, CT. This estate is truly like no other. This opulent 52-room estate in central Connecticut comes complete with 21 bedrooms, 19 full bathrooms, 16 half baths, and a laundry list of lavish amenities, with 50,000 square feet of living space. Aside from the standard living spaces, the home offers unique features like a board room, recording studio, multiple game rooms, a theater, a green screen room, and indoor basketball court, and a nightclub (yes, a nightclub), an indoor pool and hot tub, and a full gym. And that's just on the inside. The grand estate also offers lush gardens outside the home, a full outdoor basketball court, an outdoor pool and grotto, multiple guesthouses, a pond with a water feature, and of course a grand gate at the top of the tree-lined driveway, all sprawled over 17.6 acres of land. The property took 12 years on the market before selling at an 84% discount. That’s right. Once the most expensive sale in Farmington, most recently sold at an 84% discount against the original $18.5 million price tag. Douglas Elliman brokered the sale of the home at $2.9 million earlier this year. Proceeds from the sale went to 50 Cent’s foundation, the G-Unity Foundation.

Shockingly High Sale

Setting the record for the most expensive home sold in America is a 24,000 square foot apartment in the NYC sky. At the time of the $238 million purchase, the Central Park Penthouse was still being constructed in a brand-new building. Per Wall Street Journal, the new building overlooking Central Park will be nothing short of opulent with a 19-story “chalet,” 79-story tower, and a bunch of amenities including private dining rooms, a juice bar, a golf simulator, and a basketball court. The wealthy hedge fund founder, Ken Griffin, owns a multitude of pricey estates across the nation.
