Staten Island Realtors, Casandra Properties will showcase Empire Outlets and Riverside Galleria during International Retail Property Market – MAPIC – being held in Cannes, France from November 18th through the 20th. They will join Thor Equities, Vornado Realty Trust, Simon Property, Kimco, Related Companies, RFR Realty, SL Green and Archaio as part of the show’s US Country of Honour Program.

MAPIC is an annual retail show organized by Reed MIDEM. This year the show will be attended by more than 8,500 retailers from around the world. Casandra Properties is attending the show in order to attract attention to both Empire Outlets on Staten Island’s North Shore and Riverside Galleria on the South Shore.

Said James Prendamano, Managing Director for Casandra Properties, “Staten Islanders have the highest median family income in all of New York City. They generate $1.2 billion annually in unmet retail demand. With Empire Outlets and Riverside Galleria on track to open in the next few years, European retailers are showing interest in bringing their brands to Staten Island. We are going to MAPIC to present them with options.”

Said John Pitera, Managing Director for Casandra Properties, “Staten Islanders spend over $5 billion each year on retail and we have millions of tourists traveling here each year by ferry with shopping being their number one activity during their visit. With Empire Outlets, New York City’s only outlet center being located adjacent to the ferry terminal and Riverside Galleria being located just a train ride away, European retailers will be eager to locate their brand right here in our borough.”

Empire Outlets was more than 50% leased at the time it broke ground. Recently, Casandra Properties announced the lease signing for a dine-in movie theater at Riverside Galleria which will be run by local theater operators Gregg and Jesse Scarola. Other notable projects for which Casandra Properties acts as leasing agents are: URL at Navy Pier, being developed by Ironstate Development Corporation and Downtown Plaza by Madison Capital Realty.
